招募 | 大数据告诉你,留学美国你需要知道这些


中国教育部公布的数据显示,2018年度中国出国留学人员总数达到66.21万人,比上一年增长8.83%。5月7日,中国一留学机构发布《2019中国留学白皮书》,用大数据分析中国留学群体在留学心态、留学目的国选择、留学规划等方面的发展变化特征。


据了解,在低龄留学浪潮渐兴的同时,研究生阶段的留学人数增速明显。从留学目的地细分来看,美国仍是意向留学人群最热衷选择的留学目的地。2019年,希望去往美国留学的人群占比为43%。

这么多人追赶赴美留学大潮,有必要提前获悉美国教育的最新动态和趋势,以及美国民众当下最关心的教育热点话题。


去年底,美国一个叫TeachThought的研究机构利用大数据,发布了一份《2018年美国教育趋势》报告,选出了20个最热门的教育趋势和话题,下面我们来看看关注度排行:

美国最受关注的教育话题


从上表可以看出,成长型思维排在首位,与教育方式方法相关的热门话题较多,和信息技术有关的教育话题也不少。其中,布鲁姆教育目标分类法和基于脑科学的学习可以归入学习科学研究领域,可见美国人关注教育比较看重对学习认知、大脑神经学这些方面的科学研究


有意思的是,20个最热门的话题中没有任何知识性和考试方面的内容,而同理心教育和社会/情感教育倒是出现在比较靠前的位置,分别是第10位和12位。因此,美国人更关注学生的心理、生存和情商教育,而不是知识和考试



看完了这份来自搜索平台和社交媒体大数据的报告,我们不禁要问志愿留美的小伙伴们,你们准备好了吗?目前针对应试教育的学习,能符合美国教育发展的趋势和要求吗?留学后,是选择回国发展,还是更愿意留在美国?

目前的数据显示,中国2018年度各类留学回国人员总数为51.94万人,比2017年增加了3.85万人,增长了8%。

耶鲁社会学系主任Grace Kao教授在为期两天的工作坊里将借助她对大数据的研究成果,分享青年学生的家庭与学校教育。工作坊内容丰富,干货满满,包括:


  • 感受耶鲁大学氛围:讲座+研讨=沉浸式体验耶鲁大学博雅教育氛围;

  • 体验美式教育的魅力:探讨美国学校和家庭如何促进孩子自由成长;

  • 现实问题“答疑解惑”:针对中国/亚洲学生在美国教育系统中面对的挑战提供“妙招”;

  • 社会学入门101:用社会学的思维重新认识教育;

  • 耶鲁本科招生校友面试官面对面:耶鲁北京中心总经理李恩祐现场独家分享留学故事。


During this two-day seminar, Yale Professor Grace Kao, Chair of Sociology, will draw on her research into large data sets to share insights on how Chinese students can thrive and succeed at US high schools and universities. This seminar will:


  • Provide an overview of high school and university education in the US;

  • Explore how schools and families can help students thrive in the US;

  • Present challenges that Chinese / Asian students face in the US educational system;

  • Illustrate how best to take advantage of education in the US to help adolescents develop into adults with meaningful careers; and

  • provide an opportunity to hear the story of a Yale alumna who serves as an alumni interviewer for Yale College.


In addition, Professor Kao will give a brief introduction about the field of sociology in the era of big data for participants who are interested in studying sociology in the future.

Grace Kao

耶鲁大学社会学IBM教授、系主任,

耶鲁大学教育系主任


Kao教授现任耶鲁大学社会学系主任和教育系主任,美国社会学协会副主席。她在芝加哥大学获得了社会学博士和硕士学位,在加州大学伯克利分校获得了社会与东方语言(中文)学士学位。之前,她曾任宾夕法尼亚大学社会学系副主任和亚裔美国人研究项目主任。Kao教授是一位定量社会学家(她自称是一个“数据迷”),重点研究与教育有关的种族、民族和移民问题,以及年轻人之间的关系问题。她的学术出版著作已被引用近1万次。

Professor Kao chairs the Department of Sociology and is the Faculty Director of Educational Studies at Yale. She received her PhD and AM in Sociology from The University of Chicago and her BA in Sociology and Oriental Languages (Chinese) from the University of California, Berkeley. Previously, she directed the Asian American Studies Program and served as Associate Chair of the Sociology Department at the University of Pennsylvania. A quantitative sociologist who describes herself as “a data junkie,” Kao studies race, ethnicity, and immigration as they collectively relate to education and relationships among young people. Her publications have been cited almost 10,000 times, and she is the current Vice President of the American Sociological Association.

李恩祐

耶鲁北京中心总经理


李恩祐现任耶鲁北京中心总经理。16岁考入耶鲁大学的她用三年半的时间取得了经济学和国际事务双学士学位。毕业后,她又考入斯坦福大学,获得法学博士学位。2016年,李恩祐被世界经济论坛评选为“全球青年领袖”,担任全球青年领袖理事会理事。她还长期担任耶鲁本科招生校友面试官。


Carol Li Rafferty

Managing Director, Yale Center Beijing


Carol Li Rafferty is Managing Director of Yale Center Beijing. Carol graduated cum laude from Yale University, with dual B.A. degrees in Economics and International Studies. She received her J.D. degree from Stanford Law School. In 2016, the World Economic Forum (WEF) selected Carol as a Young Global Leader (YGL), and she currently serves as a member of the YGL Advisory Group, the YGL’s global advisory board. She is also an alumni interviewer for Yale College.
