终日不成章，泣涕零如雨。

河汉清且浅，相去复几许？

Click-clack goes her weaving-loom.

All day she weaves, yet her web is still not done.

七夕由来

The Qixi Festival, also known as the Qiqiao Festival, is a Chinese festival celebrating the annual meeting of the cowherd and weaver girl in mythology. It falls on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month on the Chinese calendar.

七夕节，又名乞巧节，是中国的传统节日，庆祝神话传说中牛郎和织女一年一度的相会。中国农历七月初七就是他们相会的日子。

The festival originated from the romantic legend of two lovers, Zhinü and Niulang, who were the weaver girl and the cowherd, respectively. The tale of The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl has been celebrated in the Qixi Festival since the Han dynasty. The earliest-known reference to this famous myth dates back to over 2600 years ago, which was told in a poem from the Classic of Poetry. The Qixi festival inspired the Tanabata festival in Japan and Chilseok festival in Korea.

七夕节源自牛郎和织女的爱情传说，庆祝活动始于汉朝。有关这则著名神话已知最早的记载可追溯至2600多年前《诗经》中的一首诗。中国的七夕节影响深远，日本和朝鲜半岛也由此形成了各自的七夕节。

The festival has variously been called the Double Seventh Festival, the Chinese Valentine's Day, the Night of Sevens, or the Magpie Festival.
