On April 22nd, 2021, How It Flows On, organized by Art Pioneer Studio and L+MALL at Lujiazui Center, officially opened at APSMUSEUM.

The exhibition invited multiple experts of their fields to participate and is curated by Li Xiangning, consulted by Stefano Boeri, with curatorial assistance by Mo Wanli, Xu Yibo, and Bai Yixiong. In this exhibition, architect Liu Yichun, artist Qiu Anxiong, and composer Jin Wang collaborate and create a trans-space, trans-time, and trans-disciplinary large-scale immersive and interactive public installation.

Guided tour at 

the Riverside Passage



The opening ceremony consists of three parts: the guided tour at the Riverside Passage, press conference and opening forum of How It Flows On, and the grand opening ceremony at APSMUSEUM. Located on the Yangpu Riverside, the Riverside Passage is Liu's most recent work. It watches the Huangpu River representing Shanghai's culture and our daily life. This time, we will watch the Riverside Passage as well and share our narratives with it, through the window opened by How It Flows On.

Press onference

& the opening forum



At the press conference, we watched the speech by the exhibition's academic consultant Stefano Boeri. Jia Wei, president of Shanghai Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone Development Co.,Lt; Robin Wong, producer of the exhibition How It Flows On, founder of Art Pioneer Studio and APSMUSEUM; curator Li Xiangning; artist Liu Yichun, Qiu Anxiong, Jin Wang; and assistant curator Xu Yibo, Mo Wanli, and Bai Yixiong delivered opening speech and answered questions from media. The attended media include multiple government-run media groups, such as SMG, The Paper, Shanghai Daily, Wen Wei Po, Xinmin Evening News, Shanghai Morning Post, Eastday, etc, and subsidiary media of Modern Media, APS's strategic media partner, including The Art Newspaper, IDEAT, LEAP, and Time Architecture, and media that came to Shanghai for this exhibition, such as Wallpaper, Lifeweek, Hi Art, and ArtDBL, etc.

Assistant curator Mo Wanli the hosted the forum, and guest speakers include  curator Li Xiangning, artist Liu Yichun, Qiu Anxiong, Jin Wang, and assistant curator Xu Yibo and Bai Yixiong. They all shared their experience and understanding of this exhibition from their own perspectives. Under the crossing of these two spaces, How It Flows On, the audience step into the overlap of the actual and virtual worlds and witness time in the awakening season, and immerse themselves into the ever-changing state of time.

How It Flows On grand opening 

 & live performance



Guest speakers at the opening ceremony included Mr. Jia Wei,  president of Shanghai Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone Development Co.,Lt; Mr. Zhao Kangwei, chairman of Shanghai International Cultural Exchange Association; Mr. Qian Liang, vice president of  Shanghai Yangpu Binjiang Investment Development Co., Ltd; Ms. Robin Wong, founder of Art Pioneer Studio and APSMUSEUM; curator Mr. Li Xiangning, artists Liu Yichun, Qiu Anxiong, and Jin Wang. After the opening ceremony, curator Mr. Li Xiangning gave a guided tour of the exhibition, after which a live music performance was given at the ceremony by Mr. Liu Di and Mr. Shi Yusheng. They created a dialogue by a piece of polyphonic music written by Jin Wang.

After the opening ceremony, The Paper, Lifeweek, SMG, and Wallpaper interviewed the curator Li Xiangning, artists Liu Yichun, Qiu Anxiong, and Jin Wang.

How It Flows On will be on view until July 15th, 2021, and we are planning to have the touring exhibition at the Lonely Library, located in Qinhuangdao, Beidaihe. The touring exhibition will present the audience with a different view. Pleas stay tuned!

APSMUSEUM Spring Exhibition | How It Flows On



APSMUSEUM is a non-profit art space founded by Art Pioneer Studio and its founder, Ms. Robin Wong. With focuses on contemporary art, architecture, design, fashion, and other creative fields, the APSMUSEUM aims to discover, build, and integrate these areas of interest into a “space” of possibilities. The APSMUSEUM attempts to extend diverse public cultural spaces that bring together art, architecture, and design, a venue of cultural consumption of art and fashion, a psychological space that addresses man and social culture. APSMUSEUM is located in the L+Mall of Lujiazui, Shanghai. The renowned Italian design firm, Stefano Boeri Achitetti, executes its interior design consisting of APSPACE for exhibition, APSTORE for art and design shop, and APSALON for meetings. APSMUSEUM aims to create an unconventional exhibition space that brings art and culture to a vibrant retail concept.


L+Mall is located at the heart of Lujiazui, Shanghai, neighboring Shanghai Center, and Shanghai World Financial Center. Its more than 140,000 square meters of construction are divided into ten floors of retail space above ground and one underground. Situated at the "Golden Tip", L+Mall has become the new hub of Shanghai's financial center. Designed by the world's top architecture firm SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP), Benoy's international award-winning architecture firm has provided commercial space planning, interior design, and logo design for this sizeable mid-range and upscale shopping mall in the heart of Shanghai's financial district. In 2019, L+Mall introduced the flagship store of Galeries Lafayette, which features nearly 600 brands from the world's major luxury brands and boutiques. It integrates diverse experiences such as dining, leisure and entertainment, crossover experiences, and art spaces.
