Hi folks, Boris Johnson here, taking a moment to wish you all a merry little Christmas.

嗨，大家好，我是鲍里斯·约翰逊，在此谨祝大家圣诞快乐。

It’s that special time of year when, whatever has gone before, we can take an opportunity to celebrate all that is good in the world and to spend time with our friends and family.

这是一年里最特别的时刻，无论以前经历了什么，今天我们都可以借此机会庆祝这世界上的一切美好，并与我们的朋友和家人共度欢乐时光。

Christmas Day is, first and foremost, a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a day of inestimable importance to billions of Christians the world over.

I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful break with your loved ones, sharing gifts and tucking into some delicious food.

Of course, as many of us are enjoying a break at this time of year, let’s not forget all those who have selflessly put their celebrations on hold.

On behalf of the whole country I want to say a huge thank you to our amazing NHS staff, many of whom will be working throughout the holidays to take care of us. Thank you also to our police, and all those public servants working tirelessly this Christmas.

我要代表整个国家对我们出色的医务人员表示由衷的感谢，他们中许多人将在整个假期里来照顾我们。我还要感谢我们的警察，以及所有圣诞期间忘我工作的公务员。

I also want to express my personal gratitude to the wonderful members of our Armed Forces currently on deployment – and therefore to their friends, family and children back home who will have an empty chair at the table when they tuck in to their Christmas dinner.

So as a country let us reflect on the year, and celebrate the good that is to come.

People around the world come together to celebrate the birth of Jesus and his message of love, hope and peace. That message is more important now than ever.

世界各地的人们聚在一起，庆祝耶稣的诞生，以及他所传达的爱、希望与和平的信息。这些现在比以往任何时候都更加重要。

This has been a difficult year for many of us. We didn't succeed in delivering the change that so many people desperately need. But Christmas is a chance to listen, reflect and remember all the things that bind us together. Our compassion, our determination to tackle injustice and our hope for a better world.

对我们许多人来说，今年是艰难的一年。我们没能成功带来许多人迫切需要的变革。但圣诞节是一个很好的机会，它让我们倾听、反思和记得那些将我们每个人联系在一起的东西：我们的同情心、解决不公正的决心以及我们对更美好世界的向望。

At Christmas, too often the scale of injustice and inequality is in very plain sight. As people hurry home through our busy high streets, often loaded with shopping bags, seeing those who have no homes and no hope beside them. Adverts from mouth-watering Christmas meals when we know that many children are hungry.

在圣诞节，经常可以看到不公正和不平等的画面。人们在繁忙的大街上匆匆回家，拎着许多购物袋，与那些无家可归、看不到希望的人擦身而过。广告里播放着令人垂涎的圣诞大餐，我们知道还有很多孩子在饥肠辘辘。

And while we celebrate being together, we are reminded of the many who will be alone and sadly lonely at Christmas. But our communities are built on generosity and the solidarity that comes from that. So we don't walk by on the other side.

当我们在一起庆祝时，我们想起了许多人，他们在圣诞节孤独无助。但是，我们的社区是建立在慷慨和团结之上的。因此，我们不会袖手旁观。

This Christmas, I know so many people will be out supporting those less fortunate, helping in food banks, working in shelters and trying to find children who are homeless emergency shelter.

And our brilliant National Health Service (NHS) workers and all those who work in other public services who will keep us safe over Christmas.

Together, we have the power to bring about change in our communities and to make a real difference to the lives of others. Together, let's do all we can to make this a country that cares for the many and not the few. And do everything we can to reach out to neighbours and build that sense of togetherness, not just for Christmas, but for all the months and years ahead.

携起手，我们就有能力为我们的社区带来改变，为他人的生活带来真正的改变。携起手，让我们共同努力，使这个国家成为一个关心大多数而不是少数人的国家。尽我们所能，与周围的人一起努力，不只是在这个圣诞节，而是在今后的岁月中，都建立起这种团结的精神。
